Speaking up
Our team of Speech-Language Pathologists are certified in these international courses and offer the latest proven therapies.
Augmentative and Alternative Communication
AAC refers to different modes of communication apart from speech. Anyone with speech or language difficulties can use AAC. While some use AAC all their lives, others might use it for a short time. Our therapists are experienced in using Proloquo2go, Proloquo, Avaaz and PECS and certified in implementing AAC with Gestalt language processors.
Gestalt Language Therapy
Most children learn languages by understanding and using single words, then two words, then three, etc. Others use Gestalt language processing, wherein the child learns a few words together as units, and later uses the single words on their own. These children would benefit from the guidance of a speech therapist.
Hanen Approach
When very young children face difficulties with motor skills (hand-eye coordination, walking up or down stairs), or have not reached their developmental milestones (crawling or walking) on time, our therapists help them focus on and develop these skills to the best of their abilities.
Listening and Spoken Language
LSL is best used in cases when a child’s hearing loss is identified early and they begin to use hearing devices. They are taught to listen through special techniques used during every parent-child interaction. Our therapists have advanced skills in Auditory Verbal Therapy (AVT).
Oral Placement Therapy
Oral Placement Therapy is a form of speech therapy which combines auditory stimulation, visual stimulation and tactile stimulation to the mouth to improve speech clarity.
P.R.O.M.P.T.
PROMPT, an acronym for Prompts for Restructuring Oral Muscular Phonetic Targets, is a successful treatment method for children with motor speech disorders. Here, therapists employ tactile cues on the physical aspects of speech production, namely, the jaw, lips, tongue, etc., to encourage speech sounds.
Learning to grow
Our talented team of Occupational Therapists are well-versed with the latest advancements in their field, and recommend the following approaches.
Postural management
Children with neurological issues require special guidance to maintain an ideal posture to avoid breathing difficulties, muscle and joint problems. Our therapists may suggest aids such as standing frames and supportive seating to keep the spine aligned to facilitate feeding and eye contact.
Sensory Processing Techniques
In the cases of children whose minds are unable to smoothly process all the external stimuli in terms of sight, sound, touch, smell and taste; our therapists recommend one-on-one therapeutic play sessions to help them develop appropriate adaptive responses and skills.
Neuro Developmental Coordination
When very young children face difficulties with motor skills (hand-eye coordination, walking up or down stairs), or have not reached their developmental milestones (crawling or walking) on time, our therapists help them focus on and develop these skills to the best of their abilities.
Protective Behaviors
Our therapists help children recognize life situations where they may feel unsafe or require help, and develop a prepared response to these situations. This helps the children build confidence and resilience on a long term basis.
Handwriting Techniques
Children who find it challenging to form letters correctly on paper or to hold a pencil comfortably, will benefit from therapy to develop the requisite coordination, muscle memory and motor skills.
Seating and Adaptation
Some children with special needs benefit from therapy to adapt to special seating or mobility devices. These devices help them develop motor skills, ease arm and hand mobility, and aid visual scanning and tracking, thus reducing their dependance on caregivers.
