Clinical Intervention Program (LEAP)

The LEAP program (Learn, Engage, Adapt, Progress) is a clinical intervention programme especially laid out for young children’s needs to seamlessly go out of therapy and into real life groups. The LEAP Programme targets acquiring those very specific skills children need to function in structured social situations.

Common Developmental Areas Addressed in the LEAP Programme

Our LEAP Programme is structured to align with developmental milestones, helping parents understand how their child’s growth is supported step by step:

  1. Foundational Skills
  • Daily Living Skills: Developing independence with basic tasks such as opening lunchboxes, using cutlery, eating independently, managing personal hygiene, and keeping belongings organised.
  • Behaviour Regulation: Learning to follow simple routines, adapt to transitions, and manage emotions in a structured environment.

  1. Early Social Interaction
  • Social Skills: Greeting others with “hi” and “bye,” initiating peer interactions, and participating in simple group activities.
  • Communication Skills: Responding to questions, building sentences, and using AAC tools (if needed) to enhance communication.

  1. Intermediate Group Dynamics
  • Behaviour Regulation: Strengthening impulse control and self-regulation to manage emotions during group interactions.
  • Social Skills: Engaging in cooperative play, sharing, and turn-taking with peers.

  1. Advanced Problem-Solving and Collaboration
  • Cognitive Skills: Improving attention span, memory, and critical thinking through tasks like sequencing, categorisation, and pattern recognition.
  • Social Skills: Collaborating in group activities, resolving conflicts, and working effectively as part of a team.

Treatment Methods

The LEAP program utilizes evidence-based practices and individualized approaches to meet your child’s unique developmental needs through comprehensive assessment.

We start by providing a thorough assessment of your childs strengths and needs in the major developmental domains, which will form the foundation for an individually designed early intervention.

Structured Curriculum: Our curriculum is structured in such a way that it promotes holistic development through various activities and play-based learning experiences, age-appropriate for each child. Our program integrates speech therapy and occupational therapy techniques for an overall enhanced development.

Multi-sensory Techniques: We incorporate multi-sensory learning strategies to increase engagement
in learning and have children understand and retain certain key concepts better. These techniques are especially applied to satisfy the sensory needs of children, including those with autism.

Family-Centered Approach:
Esperanza‘s teaching approach is collaborative in nature. We work with the family, educating them, providing guidance, and connecting them with resources to further support child development and learning at home and within their community.

Transition Support: Also offered within our program is transition support to help children successfully transition into other settings, such as a school. To help promote school readiness, activities are provided to ensure smooth and stress-free transitions.
